Kenyan Coastal Society...
A great seam of palm fringed silver sands, mangroves and gentle turquoise creeks, Kenya's 480km (298 miles) long Indian Ocean coastline gazes calmly out across the coral reefs to the open sea. Just north of Watamu is the bustling coastal town of Malindi with a strong European based economy, featuring cappuccino bars, pasta restaurants and even a Casino. The town is great for relaxing with an espresso, or shopping in the craft boutiques for shoes, sandals, hand bags, jewelry and beach clothing.

The restaurants in Malindi have an Italian flavour with many excellent ones to choose from, serving local vegetables, a wonderful selection of fresh fish, Italian wine, Parma ham; extra virgin olive oil, parmesan and other delicacies. Back in Watamu, the local fisherman will call daily to bring their catch of large red snapper, king fish, tuna, lobster and oysters. The local environment creates a gourmet's paradise all at affordable prices.....relax and enjoy! |
